Christmas is the time for singing — and for choral albums, it seems. The award-winning University of Alberta Madrigal Singers have created their own unique blend of a cappella and accompanied choral works for the season. A highlight of the Balulalow is the extensive cycle Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest. The arrangements of Spanish-language songs of praise and quietude was done by American composer Conrad Susa for choir, harp, guitar and tuned percussion. This CD was chosen as Best Canadian Choral Recording at Podium 2000, the biennial conference of the Association of Canadian Choral Conductors.
